Dr. Elmer D. Bondoc, HAU-SNAMS faculty, takes the helm as President of the Philippine Nurses Association 2024 by the 20 regional zonal council representatives all over the Philippines during the first day of the Board of Governor's Meeting on January 28, 2024.

Dr. Bondoc initially entered the Board of Governors of PNA on the year 2021 as the Governor of Region 3, then this is followed by his position as National Treasurer on the year 2022, the National Vice President for Programs and Development on the year 2023, and now the elected National President for the governing year 2024.

Being elected as the National President of the association, Dr. Bondoc expressed his joy and gratitude upon his election win and summed up his general experience during his service in the organization as a window to "opportunity", and a "way of giving back".

"PNA opened multiple doors for professional growth. I have learned more about leadership and governance through my immersion in the organization and my meeting and coming together with the esteemed nursing leaders in the Philippines.", Dr. Bondoc shared how his service in the PNA immensely enhanced his skills which he find useful for his dealings. Bondoc also stated that his stint in the PNA leadership is his way of giving back to the primary stakeholders of the organization to actualize the reason for its prime existence—to champion the welfare of Filipino nurses.

Dr. Bondoc shared that being the organization's President is not a dream he has conceived in the past. However, Dr. Bondoc seeing that there's so much that could be done to ameliorate the not-so-optimal working condition status of nurses in the Philippines ignited something in him to make use of his capacity to contribute to the cause. With the minuscule drive, he had that he knew could be further amplified should he vouch for a higher helm of leadership, he started dreaming of the day that he would be President.

With the association presidency now within his grasp, he expressed through an interview with The Lifeline that his initial target that will encapsulate all the initiatives that will be poured into the association is to be hailed as this year's Most Outstanding Professional Accredited Organization—the highest recognition that can be given by the Professional Regulation Commission.
